History of Congregation Beth David
The building was dedicated on July 4, 1962 and was named Congregation Beth David in memory of David Frank, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Frank.  He passed away the previous year from a tragic car accident.  On August 15, 1965 the congregation held a "Mortgage Burning Celebration".
On August 14, 1966 the officers carried a new Torah Scroll, donated by Martin M. Zucker in memory of his mother Mary to the Beth David ark.  During the program representatives of the founders and present members of the congregation assisted in the program.  They were Irving Chandler, Philip Dwares, Samuel Kagan, Sigmond Robinson, Samuel Rosen, Isador Samdperil, Julius Weisman, David Hassenfeld, Leo Kofman, Solomon Kofman, Sidney A. Levenson, Benton Odessa, Lou Roseman and Paul Teverow.

As far back as 1946 a group of congregants started meeting regularly at different homes for services in Narragansett.  The need for a synagogue where they could worship, increasingly became important.
In 1961 the founders donated enough money to build and construction began.  At the first meeting a group of 8 people signed the corporation papers making an official congregation.  Attending were Hyman Stone,
Morris Horowitz, Jacob Frank, Lazar Koffman, Benton Odessa, Benny Cramer, Sigmund Robinson and Elisa Scoliard.
